HANS-BÖCKLER-BERUFSKOLLEG-MÜNSTER

INSTALLS A 5KVA OFF GRID SOLAR SYSTEM AT THE BEREKUM COLLEGE OF EDUCATION LIBRARY WITH  SPONSORSHIP FROM THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT.

Berekum College of Education, Berekum-Ghana and Hans-Böckler-Berufskolleg, Münster- Germany officially signed a memorandum of understanding during a visit of a 15 member team from Hans-Böckler-Berufskolleg to Ghana from 24th January to 8th February, 2020. The signing of the memorandum of understanding by the Principals- Mr. Prince Yeboah Marfo and Mr. Günther Menke marked a commitment to officially commence a school partnership which began in July, 2018 to the benefit of the two institutions.

In addition to the purpose of the partnership which is organizing cultural, academic, local and foreign based and tourism programmes aimed at offering staff and students the opportunity to engage in projects and programmes of mutual interest. The partnership is also aimed at sourcing funding for various projects and programmes aimed at supporting teaching and learning as well as providing a safe space for students who come for exchange programmes under the partnership.

In a further deal, the German Government provided funding through Hans-Böckler-Berufskolleg, Münster for the construction of a 5KVA Off Grid Solar System by Solar Pioneers Limited at Berekum College of Education Library.

The dynamic Principal- Mr. Prince Yeboah Marfo, in underscoring the need for solar light facility in an educational institution, also assured the partners of the commitment of the College to put the system to good use and to use it as a test case for investment in solar energy on the College campus.

Mr. Ernest Akrofi the Director Solar Pioneers Limited, on his part also assured the Principals and the coordinators of the project- Messrs, Martin Hammerhofer and Andrews Ohene Darteh and the fund facilitator- Mr. Uli Niehüser, a tutor of Hans-Böckler-Berufskolleg of the quality and durability of the solar system. The installation was completed within a week with 5 years warranty.

The Principal and staff of Berekum College of Education as well as the partnership actors of Hans-Böckler-Berufskolleg appreciate the achievement borne out of this young partnership between the two Colleges. As the project is anticipated to help provide uninterrupted power supply at the College Library, which would go a long way to reduce electricity tariff in the College.
